THE EMCC WOMEN'S QUILTING TEAM

How can a group of women that get together and cut up fabric and then sew that fabric back together become a ministry? In many ways ....
We started this group about 4 ½ years ago to share something God gave us the ability to do, that we all love to do, and to find fellowship with other women at East Mountain
Cowboy Church. The church was new, about 6 months old at this point, so we thought a quilting group would be a great way to get to know one another. At first, we just got
together to sew quilts, and then someone in the group suggested we give quilts to people in the church that were sick, having/had surgery, had a baby, lost a loved one
etc. Our original mission was to share our love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We found many opportunities to minister to our people here at East Mountain Cowboy
Church. We have truly become sisters in Christ. We have come to love one another very much and enjoy our time together. We always start our sewing day with a word of prayer asking God to bless our time together and praying for those that need His help in some way. We have expanded on that mission by making other things besides quilts, such as bibs, walker bags, table runners for Beehive House. Some of the walker bags have also gone to people in our church, bags and aprons from feed sacks, salvation dolls that share the salvation story to send to Indian reservations, overseas, Mexico, and to people on hospice. Our quilts have been given to people in hospice care, UNMH children's cancer center, Ronald McDonald House, and to veterans staying in the VA Hospital. From time to time, we do make personal quilts for friends and family.
